TalkRaise

Privacy Policy

Effective September 16, 2026

TalkRaise (talkraise.com, “TalkRaise”, “we”, “us”) is an English learning platform operated by an individual operator based in the Republic of Kazakhstan. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use TalkRaise, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to every part of the service: the marketing site, your account, lessons and practice exercises, the AI Teacher, and IELTS mock tests.

1. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

Account information. First name, email address, and a securely hashed password (we never store your password in plain text). If you sign in with a third-party provider in the future (e.g. Google), we receive your name, email, and profile image from that provider.

Learning profile and onboarding answers. Your learning goal, target level, deadline, preferred study time, preferred support language, teacher style, and learning-style preferences you provide during onboarding.

Learning activity and content you create. Your placement test results, exercise answers, writing submissions, speaking-practice transcripts, vocabulary progress, recurring-mistake tracking, study time, and your full conversation history with the AI Teacher.

IELTS mock test data. Your generated test content, answers, timing, and band-score estimates for each section you complete.

Billing information. If you subscribe to Pro, your card details are entered directly into our payment processor, Paddle, and never pass through our servers. What we do receive from Paddle and store ourselves is your subscription status, plan, billing period dates, and the customer/subscription identifiers Paddle uses to tell us who’s paying.

Technical and security data. Session tokens, a device/browser description (user agent) shown to you under Settings → Active Sessions, and — only for a short time, to prevent abuse of account creation and login — your IP address.

Communications. The transactional emails we send you (e.g. email verification, password reset) and their delivery status.

2. How we use your information

We use the data above to:

  • Create and secure your account, and keep you signed in
  • Personalize lessons, exercises, and the AI Teacher to your level and goals
  • Generate AI feedback, corrections, and IELTS band-score estimates
  • Track your progress over time and power your dashboard
  • Send account-related emails (verification, password reset)
  • Detect and block abuse — e.g. repeated failed logins or scripted account creation
  • Process your subscription — billing, renewal, and cancellation — if you upgrade to Pro

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell your data to anyone.

3. AI processing

TalkRaise’s core features — the AI Teacher, writing feedback, speaking feedback, and IELTS scoring — work by sending the relevant text (and, for speaking practice, your audio recording) to a third-party AI provider, currently Groq and Anthropic, to generate a response, correction, or score. This means:

  • Your messages to the AI Teacher, writing submissions, and speaking recordings are transmitted to these providers for processing
  • Audio you record for speaking practice is sent for transcription and is not stored by TalkRaise as audio — we keep the resulting text transcript, not the recording
  • These providers process the content to return a result to us; they do not have standing access to your account or the rest of your data

Because this processing is how the product works, it cannot be turned off for an individual feature you choose to use — if you’d rather not have specific content sent for AI processing, don’t submit it (e.g. skip a speaking exercise you’re not comfortable recording).

4. Who we share data with

We don’t sell or rent your data. We share data only with the service providers that run TalkRaise on our behalf, each bound to process it only for that purpose:

  • Neon — our database host, where your account and learning data is stored
  • Groq / Anthropic — AI processing described in Section 3
  • Resend — delivery of transactional emails (verification, password reset)
  • Vercel — hosting for the application itself
  • Paddle — our payment processor and merchant of record for Pro subscriptions; it handles your card details directly and tells us your subscription status, described in Section 1

We may also disclose data if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or security of TalkRaise or our users.

5. Where your data is stored

Your data is stored on servers located in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany), operated by our database provider, Neon.

If you are a resident of the Republic of Kazakhstan, note that Kazakhstani law on personal data generally requires databases containing the personal data of Kazakhstani citizens to be physically located within Kazakhstan. TalkRaise does not currently host data inside Kazakhstan. We’re noting this here in the interest of transparency rather than leaving it undisclosed.

6. Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account (Settings → Danger Zone), your profile, learning data, and conversation history are permanently deleted from our database. Some records may briefly persist in routine backups before being purged on our provider’s normal backup rotation.

7. Your rights and choices

You can, at any time, from Settings:

  • Review and update your learning profile
  • Change your password
  • See and sign out of your active sessions
  • Permanently delete your account and all associated data

For anything else — including a copy of your data, or a question about this policy — email us at support@talkraise.com.

8. Cookies

We use a single essential cookie to keep you signed in (your session token). We do not currently use advertising or third-party analytics cookies. If that changes, we’ll update this policy.

9. Children’s privacy

TalkRaise is intended for users aged 16 and over. We don’t knowingly collect data from children under 16. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us at support@talkraise.com and we’ll remove it.

10. Security

Passwords are hashed (never stored in plain text), sensitive actions like login and signup are rate-limited against abuse, and a forced password reset signs out every other session on your account. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable technical measures to protect your data.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as TalkRaise changes. We’ll update the effective date above when we do, and for material changes we’ll make a reasonable effort to notify you directly.
